Putting the Blue back in Devon
from Mike Goodman, Area Chair
I was delighted to be asked to take over the Chair of Devon area in January and want to take this opportunity to thank James Taghdissian for all the work he has done for the area and the party over many years.
I know these are challenging times but by working together and openly sharing best practice we can make Devon blue again. Campaigning for the County elections is currently my main focus, it is important that we maintain control of Devon County Council. Volunteers are key and any help you can give your association from delivering leaflets, to campaigning, & connect calling , will make a difference.
I will attend constituency AGM’s this year and when possible Association executive meetings. I look forward to meeting you and working with you to help us restore our Conservative candidates in Devon after the disappointing general election result.
I look forward to meeting you in the coming months, maybe at one of our upcoming events!
Devon County Elections "Count Down"
from Sam Penfold - Devon DCP
Devon is now just a matter of weeks away from the May county elections, and life is intense. Many of you will be aware that our candidates are buzzing around canvassing. There is also much hard work going on behind the scenes.
As your voluntary representatives, the Devon Team are doing all we can to support our super candidates. Amongst other initiatives, we have organised and funded digital support for 38 target seats. Through advertisements and surveys, essential voting intentions (VIs) are collected. These recorded VIs allow our candidates to target potential Conservative voters during the short campaign, especially useful when time and feet are scarce.
Whilst we have a need for more volunteers, I want to thank all of you who give so much to our party and our communities whilst juggling many other commitments.
One further and hopefully painless way you can help, is to like and follow our excellent candidates' political Facebook pages. I am assured the more followers each candidate has, the more the magic social media algorithms bring our candidates' posts to the attention of potential voters. This results in our candidates having a broader reach and profile, paramount on election day.
